Josie sat on the end of the stark white hospital bed waiting. The nurse had asked her to just sit and relax while she retrieved the owl from Josie's parents, St. Mungo's and wizards who were experts on her situation. The young Slytherin sat nervously, twiddling her thumbs. She tried to pass the time by counting beds, counting bricks on the floor, counting cotton swabs in the large jar the nurse had on her desk, counting... anything! Anything to get her mind off of what she was supposed to do with this ailment at school!
Josie was so excited to be attending Hogwarts she didn't even think about how this would effect her time here. Would she miss class? Did she have to tell all her professors? What if the other students found out? How would they react? Those thoughts tied a knot in her stomach and she felt nauseous. She was staring at her feet, trying to stop the room from spinning when she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder.
The nurse was back with a list of instructions. "You're to see me one a day a week before, then twice a day three days before. On the last day we'll have to find a suitable place to confine you for the night." She tried to smile to reassure Josie but the young girl knew it was hard. She smiled back and nodded to show that she understood. It wasn't too hard on her. It was similar to how her parent's handled this at home.
"Yes Madame, I understand." She took the parchment from the nurse and tucked it safely into her back pocket. The nurse stood up and walked back into her office, leaving Josie in the hospital wing by herself.
